I was on a walking holiday in NW Scotland and I met Bea Lewis who was Beatrice Marwick. She is a tiny wee soul but she has climed all the Munros! Like me she is widowed and she lives in West Lothian. I hope to visit her in September

My son John, wife Maha who is lEbanese & 2 grandchildren (US citizens) were on their bi-annual holiday in S Lebanon when Israel started their terror bombing. They moved to Beurout & then to the mountains when Israel started destroying Beurout. They could not contact the British Embassy so his brother Andrew, who runs a medical software company, & sister, who looks after computing in the New Royal, tried to get the Foreign Office moving. As nothing was happening a rich friend hired a bus with guards and had them driven to Aleppo Airport in Syria. They arrived yesterday & flew to Kuwait where the same friend put them up ina luxury hotel. They will fly out on Saturday.
John is an executive with Merck in Seattle & they alerted the media and local congressman so he is to be intervieved by Public Radio on his return to the US. He will probably tell of the quite outrageos destruction the Israelis are causing. We have all said the same to our MPs and find it unbelievable that Blair acts a sa poodle supporting the US view. He is apst his sellby date.
